Mobile games have really become their property in recent years, with tons of great new games released every month. The only problem is that the Google Play Store is still a mess so finding upcoming Android games can be an absolute nightmare.
To help, we’ve put together this list of the 15 best upcoming Android games, in categories like adventure, action, racing, and more. Take a look and get ready to mark your calendars!
1. Dauntless
Dauntless is a free-to-play cooperative RPG game that’s currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The developer said that the mobile version of the game is currently in the early concept stage and did not provide a specific timeframe for its release date.
In Dauntless, you’ll wear the killer’s shoes, and your mission is to eliminate monsters known as giants. You can hunt alone or team up with up to three other killers. With each kill, you get crafting materials that you can then use to craft weapons to counter even terrifying monsters.
Like the console and PC versions, Dauntless on Android is likely a free-to-play title that requires a stable internet connection.
2. Total War Battles: Warhammer
Mobile RTS games have been very weak historically, but this upcoming Android game comes from one of the biggest franchises in RTS: Total War. Like the latest PC version, this one is based on the Warhammer universe, so expect to see dwarves, high elves, knives, and more.
It should be noted that although it is compatible with the universe, it is not developed by Creative Assembly. Instead, veteran mobile developer NetEase leads the effort. This game should give better optimization for mobile devices, but it might mean that it includes some controversial elements like stamina and premium coins.
We still don’t know much about this but the official website says a beta version closed soon. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
3. Plants vs. Zombies 3
New game in the Plants vs. Zombies is coming on Android. It’s called Plants vs. Zombies 3, and it’s already launched in certain regions around the world. Unlike the previous titles, this title will likely be vertical in order to enable more one-handed gameplay on mobile.
If you haven’t heard of it before, Plants vs. Zombies is basically an action and strategy game where you will face off against big and bad zombies with your army of plants, each of which has its own unique attack or defense abilities. The PvZ 3 will ditch the premium 2D graphics for full 3D models, but it will maintain the same general aesthetic.
There is no information on when the game will be officially released, but we know that it will be a free-to-play title with microtransactions.
4. The Witcher: Monster Slayer
Fan-favorite series The Witcher had a hit Netflix earlier this year, and now it’s time for an all-new mobile game. The title was developed by Spokko, who CD Projekt bought a couple of years ago specifically to work on a new mobile game.
We now know that the game will put you in the place of an early Witcher (hundreds of years before Geralt of Rivia) to travel around the real world to hunt monsters. That’s right, The Witcher gets a Pokémon Go treat.
The game promises console-quality visuals and a robust crafting system for making potions, traps, and more. So far there is no confirmed release date, but you can learn more on the official website linked below.
5. Summoners War: Chronicles
Summoners War was one of the first mobile games to achieve massive popularity. The upcoming Android and iOS game will allow you to relive the excitement in a whole new way. Even if you have switched to other games for a long time, Summoners War still holds a special place in many people’s hearts as the first mobile gaming addiction.
Summoners War: Chronicles is a real-time MMORPG set 70 years before the events of the original game. In it, players can choose teams of three characters, each of which can summon three monsters. These summoned armies face massive bosses with the help of other players from all over the world.
This is only the first game in the Com2Us effort to expand the Summoners War universe, so expect to hear more games soon. As for the release date, it is currently slated for June 2021.
6. NieR Re[in]carnation
The new console or PC series mobile games are often flipped versions that stretch the line between the game and the slot machine, but Nier Re [in] carnation seeks to reverse this trend.
Although it was developed by a developer focused on mobile devices, the game is produced by Yosuke Saito and directed by Yoko Taro, just like the hit titles NieR Automata and NieR. The two mentioned that the game doesn’t look like a smartphone game. The goal is not to monetize the brand but to create something interesting.
The trailer above shows a very cool game that seems to be more about platforms and exploration than about action. The game was released in Japan in February 2021, but at the time of writing, no details have been provided on a global release.
7. Pokémon Unite
One of the last things fans expected from Pokémon Presents’ shows on June 24 was the Pokémon Mobile MOBA, but that’s what they got in Pokémon Unite. The game lets you directly control some of your favorite Pokemon in a 5v5 arena battle.
The standard MOBA mode is somewhat adapted for Pokémon, with the gameplay preferring to capture wild Pokemon and deposit them in certain areas for points. There are two tracks instead of three and no towers, but apart from this gameplay, it looks very similar to popular MOBAS like League of Legends or Dota 2.
The game is being developed by Tencent’s heavy hitters team at Timi Studios, which previously worked on two of the most popular games: PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile. We still don’t have a release date, but we should hear more about Pokémon Unite soon.
8. Apex Legends
While news about the mobile version of Apex Legends is few and far between, we know for sure that Respawn Entertainment’s hit battle royale title is coming to mobile devices soon. Shortly after the game launched, the developers confirmed that a mobile version was in progress.
Unfortunately, we’ve heard very little about it since then. We may hear more about the mobile launch at some point in the near future, but at this point, it is unclear when exactly the game will launch. However, another big battle royale title on mobile to compete with PUBG Mobile and Fortnite is something to look forward to.
9. Pokémon Sleep
Although this is the second Pokémon title on this list for upcoming Android games, it was announced much earlier. Pokémon Sleep was first announced in May of 2019, although there has been little news since then.
However, new games in the Pokémon franchise are always something to look out for, and this game takes a completely unique approach. Instead of actively exploring to capture them all, Pokémon Sleep is designed to turn “sleep into entertainment” by tracking your sleep patterns.
It’s not entirely clear how this will work, but Pokémon Go has managed to turn walking into entertainment, so who knows. Stay tuned for more details on this at some point in 2021.
10. Diablo Immortal
In November 2018, developer Blizzard Entertainment announced that it was working on Diablo Immortal, its second mobile game. The title is developed from the ground up, so it is not an port for a Diablo PC or a previous console game.

The story takes place between the events of Diablo II and III. Archangel Terrail is believed to have died, while Worldstone has been shattered into various parts. These parts of Worldstone are the source of evil creatures, old and new, who wish to use the power of the stone to conquer Earth.
The game lets you choose from six classes (Barbarian, Monk, Wizard, Crusader, Demon Hunter, and Necromancer), each with at least 12 skills. You will be able to explore and fight in nine outdoor areas. There are also new creatures never before seen in the Diablo title. The game is already listed on the Play Store and underwent a short alpha test. Surprisingly, fans and the press alike responded positively. Stay tuned for the official release date soon.
